How we impact our community
Exposure to the natural world has enormous benefits – cognitive, physical, social, and spiritual – for our health and the healthy development of our children. Yet there has been a growing divide between people and nature.
BackYard Nature Center provides crucial programs and resources to reconnect residents of New Trier Township with nature, including educational programs with our schools, opportunities for community service through habitat restoration, the promotion of nature play and outdoor recreation, and advice for creating a more natural habitat in your own backyard.
The activities planned were meaningful, fun, and powerful learning opportunities.
I will forever be in awe of your ability to plan age-appropriate activities that seamlessly integrated other skills (math, writing, in addition to ecology/science/nature).
