Skokie Lagoons Stewardship Volunteer Day
November 2, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
The Skokie Lagoons preserve is a network of forest, artificial lagoons, channels, and islands. Known to the Potawatomi people as “Chewab Skokie” or “big wet prairie”, the area was well known as wildlife habitat. Our stewardship work seeks to reestablish healthy woodland, savanna, and prairie habitats. Saws and loppers are provided to remove Bucktorn, Teasel, Garlic Mustard and other invasives. Dress in long pants and closed toe shoes. We will burn a brush pile if weather permits.
Meeting Place: Meet at the Forest Way Picnic Grove, parking along the road. Look for the restoration sign.
