The Chicago-Calumet River system is healthier now than it’s been in 150 years, but litter continues to be detrimental, hurting people and wildlife and diminishing the beauty of our region. You can make a difference by volunteering with Friends of the Chicago River on Chicago River Day – a fun, free, family-friendly annual cleanup the morning of Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 9 a.m. – 12 noon. This volunteer event is hosted by Friends of the Chicago River.
