Camping for Families
A New Program Offered by The Winnetka Park District in Conjunction with BYNC
BackYard Nature Center, the Winnetka Park District, the Alliance for Early Childhood, the Winnetka Historical Society, and LL Bean hosted a peaceful night of camping and fun family-centered activities at Crow Island Woods in Winnetka on June 22-23, 2013.
Camping with loved ones outdoors under the night sky is a wonderful opportunity for families to bond and create life-long memories. Families were free to explore and learn about all different aspects of camping such as the basics of camp preparedness, equipment, clothing, and cooking to more specific camping experiences like backpacking or kayaking.
Families enjoyed cooking their dinner in foil pouches over the campfire, and at night were given an opportunity to observe the sky overhead through a pair of binoculars or telescope. It was truly a magical evening and a wonderful time of bonding between parents and their children.
