Camping for Families
A New Program Offered by The Winnetka Park District in Conjunction with BYNC
Saturday, June 22nd-23rd 2013
Crow Island Woods, Winnetka
Join BackYard Nature Center, the Winnetka Park District, the Alliance for Early Childhood, the Winnetka Historical Society, and LL Bean on June 22nd for a peaceful night of camping and fun family-centered activities.
Camping with loved ones outdoors under the night sky is a wonderful opportunity for families to bond and create life-long memories. Whether you’ve camped a few times and just want a simple camping experience without the long drive or you’ve never even looked inside a tent, this program caters to everyone. Families will have the freedom to explore and learn about all different aspects of camping such as the basics of camp preparedness, equipment, clothing, and cooking to more specific camping experiences like backpacking or kayaking.
Dinner will be provided and cooked in foil pouches over the campfire. For the less adventurous types, alternatives such as burgers and hot dogs will be provided.
With the night sky overhead, your tent prepared, and your stomachs fed, reflect on the day and enjoy the sounds of nature as you drift off to dreamland. The following morning you can grab a quick bite from our continental breakfast while you pack up your gear and head home.
